International Engagement(國際交流概況)

International Engagement

The Department of Medical Imaging and Radiological Sciences actively promotes international engagement as an essential part of its educational development. Through overseas clinical internships, academic exchanges, and global career opportunities, students are encouraged to broaden their perspectives and strengthen their professional competitiveness in the international healthcare field.

A key feature of the department is its long-term commitment to overseas clinical internships. For many years, senior students have been encouraged to participate in training programs at well-established hospitals abroad, particularly in Singapore and Japan. Due to students’ strong academic performance and professional competence, the department has earned an excellent reputation among international partner institutions. Over the past decade, nearly one hundred graduates have successfully pursued careers as radiological technologists in Singapore, making overseas internship a distinctive highlight of the program.

The department also actively engages in international academic exchange. From April 13 to April 24, 115 (ROC year), a group of 18 students from Singapore Polytechnic visited the department for a short-term exchange program. Such activities promote cross-cultural interaction, academic collaboration, and mutual learning between institutions.

In addition, the department maintains strong connections with Singapore’s healthcare sector and regularly shares international career opportunities. Recent recruitment activities include joint hiring events by NHG Health (National Healthcare Group) for occupational therapy and radiological diagnostics (115/05/05), as well as job openings from institutions such as the National University Health System (NUHS) (115/03/20) and Singapore General Hospital (SGH) (115/03/23). These opportunities provide students with direct access to global employment pathways.

The department has established partnerships with several leading hospitals in Singapore, including Singapore General Hospital (SGH), National University Hospital (NUH), Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), Alexandra Hospital (AH), and Sengkang General Hospital (SKH). These institutions offer diverse clinical environments, advanced medical technologies, and comprehensive training experiences for students.

Participation in overseas internships is based on a competitive selection process. Students must meet academic requirements and demonstrate sufficient English proficiency, such as passing an intermediate-level English test or equivalent certification. Applicants without certification may still apply but must obtain valid proof before departure. This ensures that students are fully prepared for international clinical environments.

Recent internship placements reflect the strong and stable collaboration with partner institutions. In the 113 academic year, students were placed at Sengkang General Hospital (2 students), Singapore General Hospital (6 students), and National University Hospital (2 students). In the 114 academic year, placements included Sengkang General Hospital (2 students), Singapore General Hospital (4 students), and National University Hospital (2 students).

Overall, the department’s international engagement initiatives provide students with valuable global exposure, practical clinical experience, and expanded career opportunities. By integrating international training and collaboration into its curriculum, the department prepares graduates to succeed in both local and global healthcare environments.
